Fashion & Textiles NZ

Fashion & Textiles New Zealand is a future-facing industry organisation championing a thriving future for New Zealand’s fashion & textile industry. We connect the value chain from fibre and textiles, to manufacturing, design, innovation and retail. Our members are at the heart of our organisation.

Our Belief

We believe New Zealand’s fashion & textiles industry can drive economic resilience, cultural identity and leadership in innovation and circular thinking, and deserves a stronger place on the national agenda.

Our Promise

We’re here to bring the industry together, creating a united force that can no longer be ignored, and achieving a real momentum that strengthens our influence and lifts our industry as a whole.

Our Values

Our work is guided by our four core values:

  • Collective Power
Our real power comes from bringing together all of us - industry, partners, community and government - to unite as one force for good.
  • Brave Leadership
We lead with clarity and conviction. Setting a bold direction that can move fashion and textiles up the national agenda.
  • Next Gen Guardians
As guardians of our nature and resources, we’re here to support our industry in making better choices for our people, our environment and the future of our industry.
  • Always Advancing
Never standing still or bound by the past, we’re determined to do what it takes to create the momentum our industry needs to thrive.

Our Origin

Fashion & Textiles New Zealand is built on seven years of momentum, beginning with the early call to collaborate from our founders, Kate Sylvester and Emily Miller-Sharma. We’re deeply grateful for their leadership and continued support.

What started as a vision to bring the industry together and accelerate positive change has grown into a trusted industry convenor, shaped by initiatives like the landmark Threads of Tomorrow report, the Circular Design Awards, and a growing network of partners and members. Today, our influence continues to expand, with increasing recognition from government and industry, alongside a growing and connected membership base.

Fashion & Textiles NZ is a non-profit organisation, governed by a Board of Directors, and incorporated as a society in July 2019.
